Abstract:
Overall wave loading and local hydrodynamic pressure distributions on a platform mat in reg-ular waves for shallow waters are experimentally investigated in order to examine the severity of the nonlinear effects and shallow water effects. Wave focusing phenomenon is observed in the tests. The measured results may also provide a comparison basis for the theoretical development to consider the nonlinear interaction between waves and viscous flow by introducing viscosity into wave theories.

Abstract:
A nonlinear numerical model has been set up by use of Boussinesq Equation with finite difference method, and has been applied to the simulation of the abnormal change of wave height induced by excavated waterway. Numerical results demonstrate that the abnormal change of wave height is due to the adding of the reflected wave height induced by excavated waterway to the incident wave height. Because the angle between the incident wave and the axis of the waterway is smaller than the critical angle, the reflected wave produced by the waterway may propagate to the breakwater and may be added with the incident wave, then the abnormal change of wave height before the breakwater may be caused. So the wave reflection caused by the change of water depth cannot be neglected.

Abstract:
In this paper the characteristics of tidal flow and seasonal variation of seidment content in the Hangzhou Bay and their affecting factors are studied. Field investigations and data analysis indicate that the sediment movement is mainly influenced by the Yangtze estuary and the sediment of the Yangtze estuary is induced by wind wave and tidal flow. Owing to the variation of dynamic conditions, the instantaneous sediment content is controlled by tidal flow, wind wave, depth of water and tidal range synthetically. A sediment content relationship formula is established with related factors. A non- equilibrium 2-dimensional numerical model of suspended sediment transportation is set up, and the finite element method is applied. The computation results of the model is in accordance with field data.

Abstract:
This paper studies intensively the problems of ship-platform collision. The ship and platform are treated as one structural system connected with spring elements and then motion equation of the collision system is established. A nonlinear force-displacement relationship is derived for the simulation of local dent in a hit member and the yield surface of a dented tubular section is developed to consider the reduction of load carrying capacity of hit members. Large deformations, plasticity and strain-hardening of the beam-column element are taken into account by combining the elastic large displacement analysis theory with the plastic node method. The effect of the hydrodynamic forces acting on the platform, the rubber fender the property of the local dent and the buckling behavior of beam-column on collision are analyzed. The numerical simulation of the nonlinear dynamic response is carried out by Wilson 8 method with updated Newton-Raphson iteration. And the numerical example of the dynamic response of a offshore platform in ship-platform collision is also present.

Abstract:
This paper concerns the dynamic plastic response of a circular plate resting on fluid subjected to a uniformly distributed rectangular load pulse with finite deformation. It is assumed that the fluid is incompressible and inviscous, and the plate is made of rigid-plastic material and simply supported along its edge. By using the method of the Hankel integral transformation, the nonuniform fluid resistance is derived as the plate and the fluid is coupled. Finally, an analytic solution for a circular plate under a medium load is obtained according to the equations of motion of the plate with finite deformation.

Abstract:
Shear velocity is an important index for evaluating soil dynamic properties of the site. In this paper, the statistical relation of shear velocity with soil properties is set up by statistical analysis of shear velocities and relevant soil properties measured in Tianjin and Shanghai. The obtained formula has some referential value for the evaluation and classification of the site in offshore areas of China.

Abstract:
The sacrificial anode protection system for the steel pipe piles of the 3rd berth of Dandong wharf at Dandong port has operated for eight years. In this paper, the program design and the protection effect of the sacrificial anode protection system are presented. The results of various inspections show that the piles are protected very satisfactorily.

Abstract:
A quasi-steady time domain method is developed for the prediction of dynamic behavior of a mooring system under the environmental disturbances, such as regular or irregular waves, winds and currents. The mooring forces are obtained in a static sense at each instant. The dynamic feature of the mooring cables can be obtained by incorporating the extended 3-D lumped-mass method with the known ship motion history. Some nonlinear effects, such as the influence of the instantaneous change of the wetted hull surface on the hydrostatic restoring forces and Froude- Krylov forces, are included. The computational results show a satisfactory agreement with the experimental ones.

Abstract:
In this paper the simple generation algorithms are improved. According to the geometric meaning of the structural reliability index, a method is proposed to deal with the variables in the standard normal space. With consideration of variable distribution, the correlation coefficient of the variables and its fuzzy reliability index, the feasibility and the reliability of the algorithms are proved with an example of structural reliability analysis and optimization.

Abstract:
In this paper the water-taking characteristics of the first, the second and the third stage of the Huanghua Power Plant are studied by numerical model and physical model. The results show that the present inlet channel only satisfies the supply need of the first stage of the power plant. If the riverbed of the inlet reach is properly dredged, the need of water supply for the third stage of the power plant could be met.

Abstract:
Using the limit surface slope as a criterion of wave breaking, a simple model for estimating the spatial fraction of breaking surface of sea at an instant, which is regarded as the whitecap coverge in this paper, is analytically derived from the probability density of surface slope based on Gaussian statistics. The resulting fraction is found depending on the fourth moment of wave spectum, m4, as well as the critical threshold of surface slope. By expressing the fourth moment in terms of the Neumann spectrum, a formula linking the fraction and wind speed for fully developed sea states is obtianed. Another formula relating the fraction to both wind speed and fetch (or duration) is achieved by expressing m4 in terms of the Krylov spectrum and applying the empirical relationships used in the SMB ocean wave predicting technique. A comparison between these results and the field data of whitecap coverage collected by Monahan and O'Muircheartuigh shows an encouraging agreement.
